(ConcernedPatriot.com) – The White House is interested in studies that outline ways to reflect sunlight away from the globe’s surface to cool the atmosphere and slow “climate change.”
The study, which also lays out specific studies in “cirrus cloud thinning,” mentions “stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) and marine cloud brightening.”
In a paper released last week, officials hypothesized that solar geo-engineering, also known as solar radiation modification (SRM), which involves reducing sunlight to rapidly chill the globe, might have a future.
The potential consideration coincides with the Biden administration’s support of solar panels to harness the sun’s beams for energy production.

The Office of Science and Technology Policy’s report, which Congress required, reveals that the research team has been looking into “geo-engineering” techniques to prevent the sun’s beams from driving global warming.
According to Fox News, “geo-engineering” is “the deliberate large-scale intervention in the Earth’s natural systems to counteract climate change,” as the University of Oxford states on its page.
The Biden administration is looking into stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) and marine cloud brightening, according to the study “Congressionally-Mandated Report on Solar Radiation Modification.”
Also apparently mentioned in the article is research into “cirrus cloud thinning.”
According to the report’s preface, which Fox News obtained, research into “space-based approaches” has not been conducted since “geo-engineering” is simpler to implement.
The publication stated that “The focus on atmospheric approaches also follows from their greater near-term feasibility relative to space-based approaches.”
The paper also states that there is sound reasoning for a coordinated research agenda on this topic. However, since it is still only a research document, there isn’t currently any government policy related to it.
It states, “Rather than the technology required for deployment, this Research Plan focuses on expanding understanding of the possible implications of SRM.
A large portion of this study will help us better understand fundamental climate processes, the effects of human greenhouse gas emissions, and the results of SRM.”
Continuing from the summary, “A program of research into the scientific and societal implications of solar radiation modification (SRM) would enable better-informed decisions about the potential risks and benefits of SRM as a component of climate policy.”
Despite the apparent disclaimer, others are certain that the White House approves of what they see.
The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geo-engineering’s executive director, Shuchi Talati, told Politico that the existence of the report itself is likely its most important aspect.
“This study also conveys, in my opinion, a very important message: the American government is in favor of well-regulated research, including outdoor experiments.”
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published a groundbreaking paper in March 2021 that discussed three solar geo-engineering options: stratospheric aerosol injection, marine cloud brightening, and cirrus cloud thinning.
Injecting aerosols into the stratosphere would entail flying an airplane between 10 and 30 miles into the air and spraying a thin mist that would hang in the air and reflect some of the sun’s radiation back into space.
