FDA Approves Elon Musk’s 'NeuraLink' Brain Implants For Human Trials

(ConcernedPatriot.com) – NeuraLink, Elon Musk’s brain implant business, has received U.S. Food And Drug Administration (FDA) authorization to conduct human clinical trials.

“This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA and represents an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people,” tweeted NeuraLink’s Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

Musk has long anticipated that the FDA would eventually permit the brain implant company to conduct human subjects research.

The FDA, however, turned down the business’ initial application in 2022 because of product safety issues. The corporation has now alleviated these worries.

NeuraLink’s mission is to create brain-computer interfaces for the sake of transhumanism, which is pursuing human development in various domains.

In past interviews, Elon Musk expressed his ambition for NeuraLink, saying it will “address brain injuries or spinal injuries and make up for whatever lost capacity somebody has with a chip.”

NeuraLink published a video in 2021 that demonstrated how monkeys could play the computer game Pong via neural impulses. Researchers working in lab settings have previously reached this milestone, but not by a business creating a product for everyday consumers.

Elon Musk has been one of the most outspoken public voices cautioning about the possible risks of AI. Still, he has also expressed confidence that NeuraLink may eventually enable humans to form a “symbiosis with artificial intelligence.”

In Silicon Valley, there has long been discussion about the possibility of a “technological singularity” in which machine intelligence surpasses that of humans. In this scenario, humans can overcome previously incapacitating diseases and possibly live longer.
