(ConcernedPatriot.com) – Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee favor investigating Attorney General Merrick Garland’s conduct after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy threatened to initiate the impeachment process.
McCarthy said he would proceed if the claims about politicizing the Justice Department’s Hunter Biden tax investigation proved accurate.
IRS informants told Congress last week that the DOJ twice stopped United States Attorney David Weiss from filing more severe charges against Hunter Biden in two different venues.
Additionally, according to the whistleblowers, Garland denied a request to name a special counsel in the investigation to create distance between the DOJ and President Joe Biden.

IRS informant Gary Shapley asserts that multiple people with firsthand knowledge of Shapley’s account of his communications with Weiss can substantiate his assertions.
Through his attorney, Shapley stated that “it’s up to him and the Justice Department to reconcile the evidence.”
Garland disputes any political meddling by the DOJ in the president’s son inquiry. Garland asserts that Weiss lacked the authority to bring charges against Hunter Biden, despite having previously told Congress in March that he had the power to do so.

McCarthy threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against Garland on Sunday due to the contradicting accounts if the whistleblower accusations were confirmed.
According to reports, several Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee support McCarthy’s consideration of an impeachment investigation.
Before being voted on by the entire House, impeachment cases must first come before the House Judiciary Committee.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), a senior committee member, privately informed Breitbart News that the warning was “not an empty one.”
He said that the idea of impeachment must be considered because Congress cannot simply ignore the corruption that is evident to all.

He continued, “AG Garland has enabled partisan politics to rule the Justice Department from the beginning, including the unusual targeting of parents.”
“Whistleblower allegations related to the Hunter and Joe Biden investigation make it abundantly clear a two-tiered system of justice exists today,” said Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) to Breitbart News.
She added, “I totally endorse Speaker McCarthy on this matter and look forward to the chance to grill Mr. Garland at hearings before the Judiciary Committee.”
“Under current leadership, the Department of Justice is a political weapon used to punish opponents of the president,” she said.
She continued, “The Department of Justice, and the entire federal government, must be a fair and impartial agency that enforces federal law.”
Senior staff members for Reps. Troy Nehls (R-TX) and Andy Biggs (R-AZ) also spoke out in favor of the impeachment process to Breitbart News.
Taylor Hulsey, the director of Nehls’ communications, stated that Congressman Nehls “completely supports McCarthy’s position that Garland should be impeached.”
According to Breitbart News’s communications director Matthew Tragesser, Congressman Biggs is on board.
Nate Madden, Rep. Chip Roy’s (R-TX) communications director, shared a videotape with Breitbart News where the Texas lawmaker expressed support for an impeachment trial should the claims prove accurate.
“That undoubtedly calls into question his impeachability. No doubt exists regarding that, Roy told WMAL. “That is the purpose of inquiries… The Judiciary Committee has a duty to follow it wherever it leads.”
In an appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday, McCarthy reiterated his threat to initiate impeachment proceedings against Garland immediately if the whistleblower accusations were confirmed.
“Yesterday, I laid out very clearly by July 6, because of the allegations of the IRS, because of the whistleblowers, and because Garland — what he is saying and what Weiss is saying are two different things,” McCarthy said.
He added, “And if the IRS whistleblowers’ claims are accurate, “we will launch impeachment investigations into the attorney general.”
