Discover Exactly How Digital Pickpocketing Works
If you’ve ever been to a foreign country you’ve probably been warned about pickpockets.
In these countries, pickpockets prey on people like you because they know it’ll be easy to steal your belongings.
There’s a simple reason they’re able to steal your stuff. When you’re in their country, they count on you getting used to the constant jostling normal to traveling on their crowded streets. With all that bumping and shaking they can easily slip their hands into your pockets and steal your stuff.
Some of them are even good enough to take a wrist watch off your arm without you having a clue.
This is why travel agencies always advise you to store stuff in your front pocket, on an ankle wallet, around your neck, or inside of a belt.
Using those theft deterrents, your belongings are much more secure.
Digital pickpocketing is worrisome because thieves have discovered a way to steal all of your stuff without touching you.

That’s right, they don’t need to put their hands in your pocket to get your credit card anymore.
Truth is they can steal it from you without laying a hand on you.
It’s truly terrible.
Curious how this works?
Remember a few years ago when banks and credit card companies started shipping new cards to you? All these cards had little chips in them. They said these chips would help keep your info safer.

Well, it might if you’re using it at a store, simply inserting the chop into the readers and continuing on your merry way.
However, these chips are vulnerable to being scanned by handheld computers and smartphones.
And all a thief has to do is put their device near your card and all the information on the microchip is stored inside their computer.
Here’s a video showing you how digital pickpocketing works.
Pretty scary, isn’t it?
Banks have known about these problems for years and haven’t done anything to correct it.
Meaning the responsibility falls entirely on you.
There is good news in all of this, though.
While digital pickpocketing definitely is a scary thing to worry about, there are ways to protect yourself.
And I’m going to show you exactly what they are below.
Stupid Simple Ways to Protect Yourself From Digital Pickpocketing
If you want to avoid feeling the pinch of digital pickpocketing there are a few things you can do.
Check them out:
- Switch to cash/check: For many of you this isn’t going to be an option, or even the best option. However, thieves can’t skim cash or checks. Of course, cash and checks can be inconvenient. Plus, if they’re ever stolen it’s a lot harder to recoup the loss. You can shut down a checking account of course, but lost cash is gone for good.
- Wrap your card in foil: If you want an inexpensive way to keep your card safe aluminum foil should do the trick. You’ll want to wrap each card once over to keep it safe from scanners. While this option is cheap and easy, it’s also inconvenient. If you’re a guy with a wallet you won’t be able to get all your cards back in the wallet when you need them.It also means you’ll have to unwrap your card and then rewrap it for every use. That’s a pain too.
- Get a RFID blocking wallet: Because digital pickpocketing is such an issue inventors have created wallets that block the scanners. These wallets have been made with special alloys built right in. These wallets are just like your old wallet, but keep digital pickpocketing at bay. They’re convenient, but they’re pricey. Most of these wallets run upwards of $50 or more!
- Use the FREE CardGuard: I use the FREE CardGuard to make digital pickpocketing a non-factor in my life. You’ve probably heard of me talk about my friend Frank Mitchell before. Frank is ex-military and has devoted his life to protecting Americans. Right now Frank is giving away FREE CardGuards to anyone who wants them. The CardGuard goes right against your card to keep them safe. They’re super thin so they don’t add extra bulk to your wallet or purse.
I love the FREE Cardguard because it helps to keep me safe.
Like I said, these are one one of the best options because they fit like a glove and keep you safe from digital pickpocketing.
And heck, you can get one for FREE, so what’s not to like.
Granted, it really would be nice if banks would help fix this problem…
But, I’m not sure that’s going to happen anytime soon.
So until they do I’d recommend any of the 4 tips above to keep your hard-earned money and personal information safe from digital pickpocketing!
Of course, the FREE Cardguard is my favorite digital pickpocketing deterrent.
