(ConcernedPatriot.com) – Angry headlines accusing Jason Aldean of a “Modern Lynching” and the top spot on the iTunes all genres chart are the results of lyrics from his most recent song, “Try That in a Small Town,” in which he denounces leftist violence and lawlessness nationwide.
Beginning with images of the raging Black Lives Matter riots that broke out across the nation after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, the music video for “Try That in a Small Town” shows images of people spitting at and assaulting police as well as convenience stores being trashed.
The song starts:
“SUCKER PUNCH SOMEBODY ON A SIDEWALK
CAR JACK AN OLD LADY AT A RED LIGHT
PULL A GUN ON THE OWNER OF A LIQUOR STORE
YA THINK IT’S COOL WELL, ACT A FOOL IF YA LIKE
CUSS OUT A COP, SPIT IN HIS FACE
STOMP ON THE FLAG AND LIGHT IT UP
YEAH, YA THINK YOU’RE TOUGH
WELL, TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YA MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN”
In “Try That in a Small Town,” Aldean concentrates on gun ownership and claims that rural Americans are likely to carry weapons they would never relinquish to a bureaucrat in a major city.
Indeed, the increased gun sales in America in recent years have been primarily attributed to the large-scale violence depicted in Aldean’s song video.
A record number of 5.4 million first-time gun buyers flocked to gun shops nationwide in 2021, following Black Lives Matter riots and COVID lockdowns, looking for a way to defend themselves.
“GOT A GUN THAT MY GRANDDAD GAVE ME
THEY SAY ONE DAY THEY’RE GONNA ROUND UP
WELL THAT SHIT MIGHT FLY IN THE CITY GOOD LUCK
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YOU MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN”
According to a National Shooting Sports Foundation survey, women made up 33.2% of those first-time gun buyers.
In addition, roughly 45% of shops said they projected a rise in the number of black Americans buying guns in 2021 compared to 2020.
Aldean also depicts residents of tiny towns who are prepared to “fight” for their way of life and to stand up against anarchy.
“FULL OF GOOD OL BOYS, RAISED UP RIGHT
IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A FIGHT
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YOU MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN”
In response to his most recent single, Aldean has received various responses, from chart-topping approval to shrill headlines accusing the Grammy-nominated artist of racism.
The headline of The Daily Beast’s response to the music video for “Try That in a Small Town” read, “Jason Aldean Catches Heat for Racist, Pro-Gun Lyrics: ‘a Modern Lynching Song.’”
Newsweek published an article titled “Jason Aldean’s New Song Sparks Outrage Over Guns—”Very Scary Lyrics.”
According to Variety, The CMT network removed the three-minute footage from the air on Monday after broadcasting Jason Aldean’s music video for “Try That in a Small Town”.
The pro-gun control K-12 Shooting Database similarly criticized Aldean’s lyrics supporting the Second Amendment.
However, they did so by attempting to denigrate him for ducking for cover during the October 1, 2017, shooting.
Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival when an assailant brandishing weapons that had been lawfully purchased started firing from a high ground.

However, “Try That in a Small Town” by Aldean has sold many copies. As left-wing media erupted, the anthem debuted at the top of the iTunes music charts.
Aldean is no new to controversy, and in recent years, his backing of Donald Trump has also infuriated the left. Trump and Aldean met on April 30, 2022, according to Music Mayhem, and Aldean afterward referred to Trump as his “Ol Friend.”
Additionally, his sister and wife, Brittney, started a clothing line with slogans like “Military Lives Matter,” “Unapologetically Conservative,” and “We the People.”
Breitbart News reported on September 30, 2021, that Brittney Aldean had a line of anti-Biden t-shirts available, one of which read, “Anti-Biden Social Club.”
In response to criticism of her and Jason’s political views, Brittney was reported saying, “I think it’s important now more than ever to stand for what you believe, even if it ‘goes against the grain.”
“I personally don’t give a damn if people don’t agree with me,” she added.
