6 Controversial Plants You May Desperately Use In A Crisis

controversial plants

Think you know all the controversial plants in the world? Some of these may surprise you!

Nature provides a ton of benefits for our health and well-being. Heck, in many ways it’s like Mother Nature offers us our own, natural pharmacy.

However, there are certain plants that are quite controversial – mostly due to the public’s opinion about them (and the negative effects they can have on our bodies/minds). As such, many of these plants have become illegal and banned from use.

But what happens when SHTF and laws and rules go out the window? What happens if we become desperate and will do anything to save our lives in a crisis?

We’re not here to change anyone’s mind. We’re simply contemplating how we’d react if these plants were at our disposal in the direst of circumstances.

No matter your stance on these plants, it’s important to consider both their positive and negative effects – especially in a crisis. That’s why it’s important to consider these…

6 Controversial Plants You May Desperately Use In A Crisis

Marijuana

Although marijuana is becoming legal in many parts of the nation, it is still a very controversial plant. However, despite its bad reputation for getting people “high,” it does have proven medical benefits. For instance, the THC in this plant can reduce pain, lower nausea, decrease inflammation and aid with muscle control issues. It’s also been shown to either kill or slow down the growth of cancer cells.

Willow Trees

Willow trees are a natural source of salicylic acid, which acts as both a pain reliever and an anti-inflammatory. Thus, it can make a great, natural substitute for Aspirin.

Keep in mind there are certain types of willow trees that contain more salicylic acid than others. In an emergency, look for the Crack Willow, European Willow or Pussy Willow.

Poppy Seeds

Remember in The Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch says, “Poppies…poppies will put them to sleep.” Well, it’s not untrue. Poppy seeds are considered to be “nature’s morphine.” They provide excellent pain relief for both muscle pain and headaches, and can even speed up healing.

However, that’s not even half of it. The seeds from this plant can also speed up and strengthen your metabolism, and can improve your eyesight. They’re also excellent for blood pressure, constipation, type 2 diabetes, nerve functioning, diarrhea and heart/bone health.

Iboga Plant

This curious plant is controversial because it can act as a hallucinogen and a psychedelic when taken in large amounts. On the other hand, its bark is shown to help treat depression, as well as substance abuse disorders (especially when taken in moderation). And this is a big deal in a crisis, since many people will likely be suffering from withdrawal (or will be feeling depression from the loss of their normal lives).

Peyote

This “compact cactus” is illegal in certain areas of the world. However, it can be surprisingly useful in a crisis. For instance, its natural properties can help treat fevers. It can also help manage the effects of paralysis and rheumatism. In addition, peyote can help treat external wounds, such as fractures and snakebites.

Psilocybin Mushrooms

“Magic mushrooms” are obviously extremely controversial due to their hallucinogenic properties. However, these mushrooms have also been shown to produce heightened feelings of well-being, and even improved behavior. That’s not all. Studies have shown that, when taken in a safe setting, these mushrooms are able to help treat PTSD, addiction, and even mental traumas. This can be huge in a crisis.

Of course, these plants are all controversial, and have both positive and negative effects. Therefore, it’s up to you to decide what to do with this information when SHTF.
