A Border Patrol agent stationed near the Texas elementary school attacked on Tuesday did not wait for backup, rushing into the school and killing the attacker.
When an 18-year-old male stormed Robb Elementary School and opened fire on students, tragedy ensued.

“A Border Patrol agent who was nearby when the shooting began rushed into the school without waiting for backup and shot and killed the gunman, who was behind a barricade,” the Associated Press reported. “The agent was wounded but able to walk out of the school.”
The agent was “an elite BORTAC Border Patrol agent,” according to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, who confirmed the report.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement Monday–

At least 20 people were killed in the shooting, according to reports.
Many Democrats immediately seized on the tragedy, calling for new gun control legislation while others used it to attack Republicans.
The shooting occurred in Uvalde, which is located 85 miles west of San Antonio and has a population of approximately 16,000 people.
Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), who represents the district where the tragedy occurred, expressed his “heartbreak” over the events of the day.
